INTERPRETATION OF DANISH TRADITION BY IMPROVISATION

Søren Bebe and Ditte Rønn-Poulsen aka duo Røst will be performing the next couple of days in Hangzhou @ the 2nd World Leisure Festival. Check them out, the music is an alluring and evocative soundscape at the intersection of jazz, ambient, folk, traditional hymns and pure pop. Røst first came to China last year, invited by DCI, and since then the duo has built up a nice following.

RøST ( - Ancient danish word for “Voice”)
Using large amounts of improvisation, RøST interprets traditional Danish hymns and folk songs, giving these ancient melodies a new and mesmerizing sound. Combining keyboards and electronica with amazing vocals, RøST creates a soundscape that are filled with a compelling intensity and true emotional depth. A concert with RøST is for certain a moving experience !

RøST explains:
We were all brought up with these songs and they are an integral part of Danish and Nordic culture. Stripped down to the basics, they are all about melody and emotion, and about telling a story. This is what we focus on, getting rid of everything else and then starting over again from there. We improvise a lot on stage which makes every concert a unique, concentrated emotional experience.
